As a 12th grade English class at Da Vinci Communications we were challenged to choose any topic that we wanted to learn more about, as well as choose a book about said topic, and build expertise as we research, learn and write about the issue over the course of the next several weeks. Hints the name multi-genre project.
For this project the book I chose was New York times best seller 'Why Are All The Black Kids Sitting Together In The Cafeteria?' by Dr. Psychologist Beverly Tatum. In the book Dr. Tatum frequently referenced to this psychologist term referred known as 'Implicit bias'. Implicit Bias is used in this book to refer to the specific Bias known as the 'like me bias'. Which is believed to be the bias directly responsible for people to prefer to associate with people similar to themselves through aspect of identity. This bias is also believed by the author to be in direct coloration with discrimination and prejudices. For my MGP I choose to thoroughly analyze Implicit Bias in it's entirety and it's effect on Ideneity. Please Enjoy! :) -Ron Gray
