The purpose of my multigenre project is to expose the reasoning for societal suffering to the young black populous generation as well as explaining the reactions people express from subconscious bias. I was inspired to do this after reading the book “why are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria, by Dr. Beverly Tatum. This issue is particularly important to consider when we enter into debates and discussions with a diverse society. Implicit bias is something we all have and it’s important to have open, thoughtful, and accepting discussions about our differences, beyond just race alone. A large reason why there is so much division in this country stems from the intolerance of discussing intolerance or discriminatory behavior. We all can live as one people thrive and live comfortably, but we’ll have to all want it one great way of displaying our differences disagreements and moral compass. Only then we’ll just be scratching the surface with open diversity debates, we still have over 200 years of legislation to repeal and replace based on historical American relationships.
The Implicit Bias article as my first genre piece was meant to originally be a summarization of the information provided to me through Dr. Tatum’s book, along with scholarly sources providing insight into basic psychology facts as well as information or logic, you can conclude through basic socialization and life experiences. This piece was intended to initially be a rundown of the data given to me through statistics and general sources from the University of Stanford.
My plan for the second piece was to create a research paper similar to the research papers I had encountered on Science Insider. This would sell the idea that I actually have experience in this field and that I’m not just an eighteen-year-old twelfth grader who’s just doing this so my educational representative can earn her salary. While also offering the services and information for those interested in psychological reflexes, via the creation of what would seem like accurate scientific assessment. My audience will be able to accurately assess their own biases and will be able to use this knowledge to inform others and encourage open discussions about Implicit biases.
My argument for the third piece was to make an examination paper like the exploration papers I had experienced in Psychology Insider magazines. While additionally offering the administrations and data for those intrigued by mental reflexes, by means of the production of what might appear exact logical evaluation. My crowd will have the option to precisely assess their own predispositions and will have the option to utilize this information to advise others and energize open conversations about Certain inclinations.
For my fourth piece, I chose to pick the art form I have the most experience with through pathway and through regular art creation, poetry. This Poem was in the subjective experience of myself. Since I have been on both ends of implicit biases being a mixed black male the philosophy I chose to represent in this was very cynical, similar to the philosophy my personality is mirrored inspired by. Cynical approaches to art allow for a special, and unique approach to a situation. There is a clear and obvious charm when it comes to cynicism and delivering a laid back serious message, this is partially the reason why cynicism inspires a lot of aspects of my life as well as my storytelling related literature. Involving details in any situation can allow the reader to realize how simple most things are. I express excellent use of cynical references when mentioning how “self-motivated politicians are able to commit openly discriminatory behavior and still be able to reside in positions of power”, mentioning the history of the forty-fifth president’s father.
For my final piece, I decided to go out with a bang, this is why I created an open letter to openly mention my knowledge to public audiences of what I learned in the research and reading over the past two months. As a result of the final conclusion came out quite crispy. Although the concept might be simplistic at best, I really hit the nail on the head introducing the argument of people just wanting to hang around similar people such as themselves.
